Principally Speaking
I want to “give props” (respect) to our eighth grade students for their outstanding behavior at the Gondolier Restaurant last week. After visiting the Career Day Program at the National Guard Armory, the students were taken to the Gondolier Restaurant for lunch. I was on the way to a principal’s meeting at MCHS near the same time and decided to stick my head in the restaurant to see how things were going for the group. You would have been proud as parents to see how well behaved and mannered the girls and boys were. In fact, I noted to myself that the general atmosphere among the students was much better than with the regular patrons. As the group was leaving, the staff at the restaurant remarked about how the students were one of the best-behaved youth groups they had served in a long time. All in all, I was especially proud that day of the upper grade students and teachers who represented you and Englewood School so well.

Search Feature Added to School Website
Our school’s website, www.englewoodschool.net now contains a search feature. The search feature will allow you to search the school’s website for information. This feature only searches through information found on our website. A special tip of the hat is given to Josh and Tina Bailey for adding this new search engine to our school’s website. We hope you find this to be a useful tool.

WDEF’s Golden Apple Award – Ms. Jodi Mull, First Grade Teacher
Congratulations to Jodi Mull, first grade teacher, who was presented with WDEF’s Golden Apple Award. The award is given to a teacher who “goes beyond the standard teaching methods.” Ms. Mull was nominated by Bobie Joe Opalewski whose grandson, Caleb, is in Ms. Mull’s class. Best wishes to Ms. Mull upon receiving this prestigious honor.

New Four Gym Basketball Goals
Our gym has four new basketball goals! They were funded by three groups: the Englewood Recreation League, McMinn School Health, and the Englewood PTO. This gift of the new goals is something which our students and the Rec. League will enjoy for many years to come. Thank you!
