February Newsletter

Principally Speaking
A few days ago our Family Engagement Plan and Federal Projects Program were evaluated by the state. Our plan and project both received several commendations during the visit. The monitor was especially pleased that our school’s safety plans were up-to-date and that we were mindful of them as well. I appreciate all the hard work accomplished by the Family Engagement Committee and our school staff. A special tip of the hat goes to Jodi Mull, Family Engagement Coordinator, and to Angela Bowman and Kristi Darnell, School Improvement Coordinators.

State Writing Test
The state’s writing assessment will be given at Englewood School on the morning of Tuesday, February 2. It is part of the achievement test program. Students in grades five and eight will take the test. Basically, students will be asked to write a short essay which will be scored by the state on a one to six scale with six being the highest. Good luck to all the students who will be taking the test.
