Principally Speaking
As parents, we all could take a cue from Mr. David Pierce, Director of McMinn County Schools. I’ve noticed he always asks many topic related questions to become informed or when making a decision. You easily get a sense that Mr. Pierce is interested and wants to make a positive difference for each child.
We are starting a new instructional program called RTI (Response to Intervention). Basically, it means that if your son or daughter (K-3rd grades) is found to be struggling in reading, we are going to take action to help him/her get on track as soon as possible.
Since this is too small a space to do justice for further explanation of RTI, we will soon be providing parent in-service on the topic. I encourage you to attend the RTI meetings to become informed and to assist us by asking questions about the instructional program. Your child will be a much better reader if you are a knowledgeable parent.

Care Enough?
Would you be willing to care enough to donate one hour of your time each week to help a student do better in school? If so, we invite you to join Care Enough. Care Enough links a parent or community volunteer with a student at school. The purpose is to provide one-on-one tutorial service. If interested, sign-up at the PTO Open House on Tuesday, September 15, or call the school office and ask for Ms. Ervin, Care Enough Coordinator.
