Principally Speaking
Good school attendance is a key indicator of how well you will do in school. Simply put, those who have good attendance learn more and do better overall in school than those students who attend irregularly. The question then becomes what you can do to make sure you are well and healthy enough to attend school each day. Surprisingly, the best way to protect yourself from illnesses is to wash your hands. Proper washing of hands is very important in protecting you from germs and viruses, which cause colds, flu, and staph. Below are the latest recommendations for hand washing from the CDC. For further information, go to
CDC Clean Hands Campaign.
- Wet your hands with clean running water and apply soap.
- Rub hands together to make a lather and scrub all surfaces.
- Continue rubbing hands for 20 seconds. Need a timer? Imagine singing “Happy Birthday” twice to yourself.
- Rinse hands well under water.
- Dry your hands using a paper towel or air dryer. If possible, use your paper towel to turn off the faucet.

Sack Lunch Offer for Second - Eighth Grade Students
Beginning this month, the cafeteria will be offering second through eighth grade students a choice for lunch each day. These students may choose a bag lunch or regular lunch. Both will remain at the regular price and meet nutritional standards for the school lunch program. The only difference is students will have a choice of which type of lunch they would like to eat. Mmmm, Choice is good!
