December Newsletter

Principally Speaking
I hope the holiday season has begun well for you. It is amazing that we are almost halfway through the school year. School is going quite well at this point, and we have accomplished a lot. Ms. Darnell and I as well as all of the Englewood staff wish you the best of time and remembrances during this holiday season.
Merry Christmas!

New Computer Projectors Purchased with Concession Stand and Ramble Proceeds
Our school is in the process of purchasing and installing new computer projectors and 100 inch screens with proceeds from concession stand sales and Ram Ramble donations (a cost of approximately $12,000). This technology will finish our project for K-4 classrooms. The projectors will be mounted to the classroom ceilings to ensure an optimal learning experience for students. This new multimedia learning tool will allow teachers to better diversify their lessons and add a little spice to student learning. By your support and generosity we will no doubt have some of the most technologically advanced classrooms in this area.

Hoop Shoot Winners
Several of our students participated in our annual Hoop Shoot Contest. The winners were Macy Hunt, Lynsi Casteel, Jessica Swafford, Wesley Dunkle, Alan Runkles, and Ben Slack. They will advance to the county level tournament. Good Luck!

Math Fest
Congratulations to Matthew Parsons who came in second place at the MCHS Math Fest. Matthew and Ashley McDowell came in fifth place in team computation.

Englewood Teachers of the Year
Two of our teachers have been selected as Englewood Teachers of the Year by our teaching staff. Becky McKee was chosen for grades P-K through fourth grade, and Paula Myers was selected for fifth grade through eighth grade. Ms. McKee and Ms. Myers are outstanding teachers. They are truly deserving of the honor bestowed upon them by their peers.

Optimist Club Winners
Kayla Johnston and Matthew Gentry were recently presented with the Athens Optimist Club’s Best-all-Around Award. The club gives the award each year to the eighth grade boy and girl who best exemplify their creed.
