Englewood Elementary Parent Involvement Plan

The mission of Englewood Elementary, a family-centered school is to ensure that students have the foundation necessary to achieve personal success and fulfillment by providing a nurturing, interacting, learning environment.

Englewood Elementary School has developed with parents a written parent involvement plan. The Englewood School Improvement Plan under Section V will include the Parent Involvement Plan. This is still in progress. The goals for Parent Involvement will be included in the SIP. Englewood School encourages the involvement of parents, both as individuals and as groups, to act as advisors and resource people.

In an ongoing effort to increase communication and parent involvement, the family engagement team will initiate the following strategies:

Englewood Elementary will have an annual meeting with the Family Engagement Advisory Committee to review the Parent Involvement Policy and the Teacher-Parent-Student Compact. The Advisory Committee will include parents from the community.

Englewood Elementary will plan and implement parent involvement activities and meetings held at flexible times for the convenience of parents, such as: Care Enough, PTO Open House, Ram Ramble, Veterans Day Celebration, and School Cookout.

Englewood will provide web sites that contain relevant information that covers all aspects of students' education. This includes, but is not limited to Curriculum Mapping, State Standards, and ScanTron.

Englewood Elementary will hold an Annual Open House at the beginning of each school year. This will give parents and family members an opportunity to visit the school and meet their child's teacher and principal. In addition, this is an opportunity to share relevant information such as the School Improvement Plan and the Parent Involvement Plan. Additional meetings will be held throughout the year.

Englewood Elementary will hold Parent-Teacher conferences twice per year. Flexible scheduling will be utilized for conferences to give all parents and family members an opportunity to attend. Conferences will be utilized to encourage academic improvement, promote good behavior, and improve attendance. To insure consistent communication, teachers will document in parent contact logs the following: all phone calls, home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and any communication in writing.

Englewood Elementary will utilize the ESL instructor and the TransACT site to translate to our Hispanic population by phone, in writing, or in conferences.

Englewood Elementary will keep parents informed concerning various issues such as the Parent Involvement Policy, parental right to access their child's records, Board and school policies, and calendar of events for the district and individual schools through the following: e-mails, weekly folders, and monthly newsletters.

Any concern or disagreement regarding the Parent Involvement Plan should be directed to the school family engagement coordinator and principal. If the concern is not resolved, then the complaint should be submitted to the family engagement coordinator at the Central Office.
